Event Overview: Join us by volunteering for the one of three Rooftop Garden Social’s at VPL on July 21st. Attendees will sip, snack, and socialize while enjoying views of the city skyline from VPL Central Library’s Phillips, Hager and North Garden located downtown. Other entertainment and activities will include music, book swaps and more. Proceeds from this event will go towards funding five new soundproof work pods, providing more people with places to meet, connect and work at Central Library.

Volunteer Roles

Greeter*: This is one of the most important volunteer positions as you are the first contact for our guests and set the tone for the evening. Your job is to greet guests and smile brightly when they arrive at the event, directing them to the staff elevators. Some of these volunteers will escort guests up Level 9 in the elevators.

Registration*: The registration table volunteers will welcome our guests, get them checked in and provide them with food and/or drink tickets.
*Note – Registration and Greeter volunteers will switch halfway through the night

Bar: Bar volunteers will serve both beer and wine to our guests. Drink tickets can be pre-purchased or bought on-site. Bar volunteers will need to have either their Serving it Right or Special Event Server certificate.

Ticket Sales: This role will be responsible for all onsite ticket sales for food and beverage. They should feel comfortable handling both cash and digital payments (Square Card Reader). They may also be responsible for handing out food (charcuterie platters and snacks) and beverages (soda) to guests.

Floater: The floater role is essential in ensuring that the event runs smoothly! The floater role will ensure the water station is filled with water, assist with emptying full bus trays of glassware to the kitchen, and help the bar and food staff get additional supplies from the kitchen.
