What a weekend! Our September sale was interrupted by a deluge early in the morning of Friday September 16. The sale was cancelled on Friday, and resumed at noon on Saturday after our volunteers cleaned up and moved thousands of books from the moat up to the Concourse. We lost a number of our specialty books, as well as 81 boxes of used books. Book’mark had to be closed on Friday and Saturday as the restoration crew vacuumed up the water.
A huge vote of thanks goes to our volunteers, particularly our organizers Karen, Jocelyn, Mel, Carol, Bruce and Richard. Thanks to our customers who came back to the sale and waited around while we made the move on Saturday morning. And to our members and customers who offered their support for our work in emails, cards and comments.
Keep buying used books and gifts at book’mark, and plan to attend our next sale December 1-3.
